How an igloo stays warm at minus 40
Why a house made of snow can be cosy, and the clever engineering hidden in every block.
Igloo now runs on Umbraco 17, the new long-term support release built on .NET 10. Here is what that means for your site, what Igloo adds on top, and how upgrades work from here.
Umbraco 17 is a long-term support (LTS) release, built on .NET 10, which is also an LTS release. That pairing makes it a solid version to build on and stay on, with a long support window for security fixes and updates.
Some of the headline changes in Umbraco 17:
Igloo now supports Umbraco 8, 13 and 17. The Umbraco 17 version keeps everything editors know from earlier releases, from the block-based page builder to more than 30 widgets, and adds a few things worth knowing about:
From version 17, Igloo sites can be upgraded to newer Igloo 17 releases without manual intervention. In practice that means:
LittleNorth.Igloo NuGet package alongside Umbraco.Cms. Igloo 17.4 needs Umbraco 17.3 or later. On Umbraco Cloud, push the upgrade to your development environment first and check it there before deploying to live.
Coming from Umbraco 13 or earlier? Igloo sites on older versions cannot be upgraded to Igloo for Umbraco 17. Moving to Umbraco 17 means setting up a new Igloo 17 site.
You can try Igloo free for 14 days with no credit card. Licences start at €299 per domain and include 12 months of support and updates, so you can move to any new Igloo release in that first year.
